What I do at work: I own a professional photography business, Simply Pure Photography. Aside from all the details of running my own business, my favorite part is being a photographer and capturing the essence of moments in time for others. My specialty is newborn portraits, but I also do all types of portraits, weddings, and landscapes.
What I do with my time: Spending time with my family and raising my 1-year-old son is my passion. I look forward to volunteering my photography talents and professional equipment to photograph the baby dedications at my church, MorningStar Community. When the sun is shinning I am most likely to be found outdoors, exploring the great Northwest: hiking, biking, camping, fishing, skiing. I try to save money and find crafty ways with DIY projects to create various photo backgrounds, props, and other equipment.
Why I work and live in the Mid-Valley: I was born and raised in Salem. Earned my bachelor’s degree at Western Oregon University. I guess you could say I just can’t leave. My family and friends that I hold most dear are here. Oh, and the beauty.
What’s my favorite Salem secret: The footbridge at Salem Riverfront. It’s one of my favorite spots to do portraits. I love watching the sunsets over the river. Also, there is a nice trail system to stroll around the heart of Salem.
What’s something people wouldn’t guess about me: When I was little I had a Trolls Doll Career Card (1980s) featuring a nurse troll working with newborn trolls. I always knew I wanted to work with newborns, just did not know it would be with a camera. Love it.
What I was like at 12 years old: Friendly but shy, spunky, open to try new things, always participating in a sport, engaged with my church youth group.
My smartphone: iPhone
Twitter or Facebook: Facebook.
I’d love to have lunch with: My son, when he is all grown up.
