Wedding in your future? Budget on the mind? Check out the free “Do-It-Yourself” Bridal Show from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Historic Gentle House in Monmouth.

Featuring caterers, bakeries, florists, musicians, DJs, photographers, dress and formal wear retailers, and lodging venues from the Dallas, Salem, Monmouth and Independence area, this show aims to connect couples with local wedding offerings and opportunities, while highlighting the Gentle House.

Seventeen vendors are confirmed, and a few more potentials are on the list.

“This may seem minimal for a bridal show,” said Heather Thompson, Gentle House staff member, “but given the venue is truly a historic home, this many vendors will fill the house nicely.”

In addition to vendors, there will be live music, door prizes, demonstrations of DIY projects and a small dance lesson, as well as tours of the house.

Although not the first time holding a bridal show at the Gentle House, it has been many years.

The Gentle House, on the north end of the Western Oregon University campus, features a refurbished parlor, living room, dining room and kitchen. The second-story serves as a museum. The house is available for event use.

“Many people don’t realize that Gentle House is a nonprofit home used for events. It is part of the Western Oregon University campus, and so much of the help, upkeep and event work is run by students,” said Thompson.

The first 20 brides to attend will get $100 off a Gentle House booking.
