Last year was the first time I had heard about The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life events. A close family friend is a cancer survivor and makes a Relay For Life team every year, last year was the first year she had invited me to be a part of her team. First hearing about it, I thought it would either be lame or be a lot of work. Oh, the naivety of youth!
Here’s the scoop in the dish:
IT’S A WALK!
AN ALL NIGHT WALK!
I LOVE WALKING!
In a nutshell, it’s a walk-a-thon! Which, if I do say so myself and my mother can attest as well, I ROCKED those Walk-A-Thons in elementary school!
FUN FACT: The American Cancer Society funds more cancer research than any other organization in the United States!!
Moving away from home to come to Western made me accept that I may not be able to participate in a Relay For Life event this year. Imagine my excitement when I discovered that WOU holds their own Relay For Life!!! Imagine my further excitement when I get invited to join the team made by my hall!!
So of course now we get to fundraise! And we LOVE to fundraising!!
If you’re the lovely, wonderful type of person that loves to donate here’s just some ideas to help out:
-April 15th, 6pm-9pm @ Frozation, Monmouth
-April 17th, 10am-2pm @ Werner University Center, WOU
