The Mid-Valley Community Children’s Theater will perform “Arthur and Guinevere” at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Western Oregon University’s outdoor stage at the Performing Arts Center, Knox and Jackson streets, Monmouth.
Organizer Rob Harriman said the show, which carries on the tradition of its founder and former WOU humanities professor, the late Don Weiss, is in its third year and engages collaborative efforts of parent volunteers, Monmouth Independence Community Arts Association and Polk County Cultural Coalition.
“This year we will honor Bob Page, a former (WOU) theater professor who carried the children’s theater torch for many years in the 1980’s,” Harriman said. “In fact, Mr. Page was instrumental in the construction of the stage on which this play will take place.”
Harriman said more than 30 youngsters are involved in the production, ranging from ages 6 to 14. He encourages attendees of the free event to prepare for the weather, which if sunny and warm could mean sun screen, shade hats and possibly parasols.
