MONMOUTH — Dr. Lauren Roscoe, an associate professor of psychology at Western Oregon University, has been honored by The Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) with an Outstanding Advising Award for faculty advising.

This marks the seventh consecutive year that NACADA has recognized WOU for the strength of its advising programs.

“It is an honor to be recognized,” Roscoe said. “I think this award is representative of the outstanding advising that so many of WOU’s faculty do on a daily basis.

“Advising is an integral part of our jobs that helps our students craft their future plans, reach their goals, and figure out how to contribute their talents to the world.”

Roscoe joined WOU’s Behavioral Sciences Division in 2004 and has been teaching courses in general psychology, abnormal psychology, theories of personality, and more. In June 2012 she served as a visiting professor at Guangxi Medical University in China, where she taught a two-week intensive introductory psychology course to Chinese students planning to study abroad in the United States.

In 2012, she was named Academic Advisor of the Year at WOU and Oregon Academy of Science’s 2011 Outstanding Educator Award in Higher Education.
