Thanksgiving food drive

The holidays are quickly approaching and the usual thoughts on everyone’s minds are turkey dinners and winter break. But it is important to keep in mind that not everyone has a hot Thanksgiving dinner to sit down to. Tis the season to not only be jolly, but to give as well.

RHA, or Residence Hall Association, has organized an annual food drive to create turkey baskets for local families. Last year alone they managed to collect around one hundred baskets, and this year, with the help of students and organizations around campus, they aim to raise even drive

The food drive began November 5th and will continue through the twenty-first. The sponsorship of a basket itself costs around sixteen dollars, and can feed an entire family. On-campus students can lend their support by giving donations to their Hall Government, who are working directly with RHA.

The turkeys are generously donated by local organizations and businesses and RHA is looking for healthy, non-perishable food. All donations will benefit the Ella Curran Food Bank, which is located in Independence and helps serve local families.

Donations can be dropped off at the offices of the Residence Hall Association, the South Sister Annex, located under Valsetz Dining Hall.

If you your club or organization would like to get involved contact RHA for more information.
