The year ahead

The thing I like most about Western Oregon University is the ability to be close to everyone. I never have to have fear for a class because the professors are always able to help one-on-one, no matter how discouraged I get, there is always someone just around the corner to lend a helping hand.

A few things that I’m looking forward to in this coming year:

Making connections and expanding my horizons: The nice thing about living in a small town and attending such a close knit university is that with every passing year you are able to meet people that may be with you for the rest of your life. I am ready to join new groups, make new friends, and learn new and exciting subjects from each of my courses.

Finding out more about who I am: I believe that at particular parts of a person’s life they believe that they figure out who they are, but it’s a long process, it takes time and discovery and plenty of trial and error. Personally I find that I discover the most about myself when I travel. I love to travel, whether it is internationally or just the occasional road trip around Oregon. I feel that with each different location I visit, it is as though I’m piecing a map designed puzzle together that helps define who I am. I’m looking forward to the adventures that I will be able to partake on this year.

The movies: Outside of school in my free time I enjoy winding down with movies. On breaks you’ll probably find me somewhere with my laptop watching anything from drama to historic to horror. Film is my favorite type of art and for me a new year means new movies.

Being that much closer to my degree: I am fortunate enough to be a part of a degree program that exemplifies my passion. It may not be for everyone, but to me I see economics in everything. It’s a part of everyday life and the more I learn, the more I can utilize my knowledge day to day and one day be able to help others as well.

It’s a new year with adventures and life lessons and skills to be learned ahead and if you are like me that could never be more exciting.
