On Friday, April 8, 2016, jazz vocalist Sara Gazarek will be performing with the American Metropole Orchestra at 7:30 pm in Rice Auditorium. The American Metropole Orchestra is a professional group of local musicians that includes WOU faculty and students. The concert will feature music from Gazarek’s album Blossom and Bee, as well as music from her new duo album, set to release in December 2016.
Championed by some of music’s most celebrated figures, Sara Gazarek has emerged as a strikingly original artist with limitless potential. With three highly acclaimed recordings as a leader, Sara was hailed by the LA Times as “the next important jazz singer” and “impeccable” by the Winnipeg Free Press. Blessed with a gorgeous, translucent voice, excellent pitch, and supple sense of time Sara embraces both tradition and the music of her generation.
General tickets are $25 in advance and $28 at the door. Student and senior tickets are $11, and WOU students gain free admission with valid I.D.
