On Friday, May 20, Western Oregon University’s Multicultural Student Union hosted Nuestra Fiesta Latina, and word on the street is that this 14 hour party was quite a success!
Starting at 11 a.m. there were tons of free activities for the campus community. Events like face painting, airbrush tattoos, and a jalapeño eating contest made this afternoon on campus one to remember.
Later in the evening there was a traditional dinner hosted by the local restaurant Koyotes, and entertainment for the whole family. The Pacific Room in the WUC was packed with students, staff, community members, and their families. Guests were able to listen to musical entertainment: Mariachi viva Mexico, and saw performances of traditional dances from different eras in Latin American history.
One might think that all of these wonderful festivities would be enough, but the MSU outdid themselves by also hosting a dance that went on until the early hours of the next morning; full of moves and music from Banda Tierra Kora.
Western Oregon University definitely had a night of fun on Friday, and it won’t be forgotten anytime soon. A big thank you goes to WOU’s students in the MSU, Koyotes, all the lively entertainment, and those who helped make this event so wonderful. Fue perfecto.
