November 14 marks the beginning of this years International Education Week (IEW), an annual event that focuses on the advantages of global involvement in education. Beginning with a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State as well as the U.S. Department of Education, IEW promotes programs and organizations that include study abroad as well as ambassadorship.
Started in 2000, the main goal of IEW is to encourage those inside and outside of the United States to gain a better and more engaged view of the world, as well as to train the future leaders of countries around the globe. More than 100 countries are involved in IEW and WOU is holding multiple events throughout the week to celebrate.
Events at WOU include tabling with information on study abroad, a World Expo on Wednesday November 16 and an international potluck to round the week up on Friday November 18. Here is a full listing of times and events this week:
