The Western Oregon University Board of Trustees welcomes Gayle Evans, the chief human resources officer at Unitus Community Credit Union, to the governance group. The Oregon Senate confirmed Evans on Nov. 15, 2017.
Evans has been with Unitus for 10 years and has served on multiple boards of directors in the past, including for Trillium Family Services and the State of Oregon Patient Safety Commission. She has been a consistent leader in health care and financial services during her 27 years in those fields.
Her experience in nonprofit development, strategic planning, compensation and employee/labor relations will be a valuable asset to the Board of Trustees.
“I was so honored to be appointed by the governor for this important position,” said Evans. “I’m excited to get started after the holidays and work with the board to support Western Oregon University and its students.”
Evans will be in attendance when the board convenes Jan. 17, 2018, for its quarterly meeting. She is filling the seat formerly held by John Minahan. When that term expires June 30, 2018, Evans will be up for reappointment.
“Gayle is a great addition to the WOU Board of Trustees,” said President Rex Fuller. “Her background and expertise will serve the Board well in upcoming conversations about the direction of the university and its opportunities to serve Oregon.”
