Monday, Jan. 27

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY: Need we say more? It’s chocolate and it’s cake. Two perfect combinations. Start the work week off with a delicious piece of chocolate cake.

Tuesday, Jan. 28

COFFEE TALK: MUSTARD SEED PRESCHOOL: Enjoy coffee and conversation while learning about Mustard Seed Preschool. Great way to practice your informational interview skills. 2 to 4 p.m. WUC.

BLACK STUDENT UNION: The club is for all students supporting black student experiences on campus through meetings, games, movies and other events. 5 to 6 p.m. Ackerman 139.

ASL CLUB: American Sign Language club is a weekly gathering of WOU students and community members to practice ASL concepts and socialize with the broader community. 5 to 6 p.m. in the Richard Woodcock Education Center, room 103.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

NONPROFIT AND GOVERNMENT SERVICES CAREER FAIR: More than 40 nonprofit and government agencies are looking for employees and interns. Come learn about careers and how your major can connect with local organizations. Students can submit their name for three $100 cash drawings at the conclusion of the event, hosted by Western Oregon University’s Service Learning and Career Development Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pacific Room at the WUC.

Thursday, Jan. 30

OUT OF THE DARKNESS WALK COMMITTEE: Volunteers are needed to help plan WOU’s Second Out of The Darkness Walk. The walk date is 4 to 6 p.m. May 14. The meeting is 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Columbia Room at the WUC.

Friday, Jan. 31

CHINESE NEW YEAR: THE YEAR OF THE RAT: The celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. in the WUC’s Pacific Room. Tickets are $4 for WOU ID card holders; $6 general admission and $3 for seniors and children under 5 years old.

Saturday, Feb. 1

EXPLORE POLK COUNTY: Discover hiking trails, restaurants, shopping and more opportunities on what to do nearby Monmouth by visiting Explore Polk County.

Sunday, Feb. 2

POLK FLEA MARKET: Find treasures at the Polk Flea Market, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Polk County Fairgrounds.
