Live Q&A Summary: Sept. 10

This is a summary of our Sept. 10, 2020 live Q&A session. We host these live Q&A’s for current students, incoming students and family members on WOU’s Instagram and Facebook accounts every other Thursday at 10 a.m. The next session is Thursday, Sept. 24.


When will tuition and fees be in Wolfweb?
The tuition and fee charges are now available in WolfWeb.


What’s the likelihood of WOU being all online through the rest of the current school year?
Like other Oregon public universities, WOU has only made a decision about fall quarter. We will continue to monitor the conditions and various health related metrics before we make a decision about winter and spring terms.


When does admission open for 2021?
Applications are open for fall 2021! You can apply at The FAFSA opens October 1, and we encourage you to apply in time to be able to submit an application for WOU scholarships (March 1 deadline).


Is WOU in danger of evacuating because of the fires?
WOU is located in Polk County and there are no active wildfires in the county, or calls to evacuate. Here’s additional information:


Will the campus be open in time for move in week due to the fires happening right now?
We are monitoring conditions regularly and will make decisions each day based on the latest information. We will be sure to continually post updates as we have them, and we’re still planning on proceeding with move-in appointments as scheduled.


When is the first day of classes?
Monday, Sept. 28.


Can students not living on campus have a meal plan or something similar?
Currently, only students living on campus can purchase a meal plan. Others can sign up for a Wolf Bonus account through University Housing and Campus Dining, which will load whatever funds you want to add onto your student ID card (a minimum $20 needs to be added to the card). You can then use this card at Valsetz for any item you wish to purchase and will receive a 5% enrichment on each purchase. More info is available here:


When will news about additional CARES ACT funds be sent out?
Financial Aid is hoping to have information available in October.


Since we don’t have roommates, is there still double furniture in the rooms?
If Housing used the room last year as a double and they have changed it to a single for this year it will have two sets of furniture in it. The extra furniture may be used by the resident. It just may not be removed from the room.
