Nearly All Winter Term Courses to be Online

With advising for winter term beginning and looking at the community health statistics related to COVID-19, WOU will continue with mostly remote and online course delivery for winter term. This decision comes after multiple conversations at the WOU Reopening Taskforce and utilizing a dashboard of epidemiological trends that we have been tracking since summer. We feel this decision is best for the safety and health of the entire campus community.

“As we’ve diligently monitored the COVID-19 statistics in our area and hoped to see an improvement, the reality is that the current trend does not indicate it will be safe to have more in-person classes for winter term,” said WOU President Rex Fuller. “No matter what the course delivery formats, we remain dedicated to safeguarding campus and community health, while ensuring students are able to make progress on their journey to their degrees.”

Winter term begins Jan. 4, 2021. This decision was announced now to provide students ample time to make decisions about winter term courses and seek advising support before class registration opens in November. The winter term class schedule will be updated with course delivery modalities before registration. The course delivery method does not impact tuition as tuition is billed at the same rate per credit for all class formats. Information about the assessment of fees will be shared when available.
